We rescued Emerson from our county shelter in March 2013. He was running out of time due to a horrible skin & ear infection. At 150lbs he was actually under weight.
He went straight to vet, and after a couple weeks his skin and ears were under control. He is three years old and has been a “yard dog” his entire life. Never let in the house, and subsequently has large callouses on his legs from laying on hard ground. It didn’t take long for Emerson to start becoming extremely stressed in this environment. He was okay with staff, but new people, children, other dogs － you could tell made him extremely uncomfortable. We can only assume that he had very limited human interaction as a yard dog, because he simply doesn’t understand his size or have any manners. While he is a very sweet dog his size makes him unmanageable in our setting. We were lucky enough to find him a spot at Blue Lion Rescue in Yoder, CO but we need to get him there. |
